The National Iranian Drilling Company has dug 123 gas and oil wells in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar fiscal year (since March 21).
Mehran Makvandi, deputy CEO of the company, said the number comes with an improvement of 22 wells compared to the same period of the preceding year, SHANA news agency reported November 25.
He added two of the wells were exploratory, 61 were developmental, and 60 maintenance. Makvandi said the drilled wells amounted to a length of 242 thousand meters.
The official further said Iran has prioritized increasing the number of drilling rigs at the joint fields of Azadegan and South Yaran.
The drilling projects were accomplished prior to their predicted final day, he noted, adding that the drilling of 15 wells in 212 days is financially very valuable.
The National Iranian Drilling Company uses 74 on and offshore drilling rigs and is active in operations in 10 provinces of Iran.
