Pakistan's Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will visit Iran the next month.

Abbasi told Iranian news agency IRNA on Jan. 28 that he would lead a delegation to Iran on Feb. 6-7.

The main goal of his visit is to discuss the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project, which has been delayed for two years.

The pipeline is meant to export 22 million cubic meters of gas per day from Iran's South Pars field to Pakistan.

Iranian side needs over $2 billion investment, while Pakistan hasn't yet started the pipeline's construction in its own territory.

Mobin Saulat, managing director at the Pakistani company Inter State Gas Systems, will accompany Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to Tehran, IRNA reported.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif earlier visited Iran on Jan. 19 to mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
