Tehran, Iran, Feb. 21

By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:

Oman's Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi has met Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh in Tehran.

During the meeting, joint investments in refinery, oil storage, and development of petrochemical industries in both countries were discussed, Zanganeh told reporters after the meeting, the Oil Ministry's website reported February 21.

He stated that the most important joint work between Iran and Oman is cooperation on a gas pipeline.

A 2013 agreement between Tehran and Muscat envisions the export of 20 million cubic meters of gas per day from Iran to Oman via pipeline.

A contract worth $60 billion was signed in 2014 for stretching the pipeline.

The two countries plan to take Iran's gas to the liquefaction facilities of Oman's Qalhat LNG plant.

Some of supplies transferred via the pipeline will be used to meet Oman's domestic gas demand, but most of it will be exported on behalf of Iran as LNG.
