Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline capex down in 2015

Capital expenditures on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline were $57 million in 2015, compared to $0.1 billion in 2014, read a recent BP report.

The report said that the operating expenditures on the pipeline totalled $155 million in 2015.

Since the BTC pipeline became operational in June 2006, it has transported a total of about 2.36 billion barrels (around 315 million tons) of crude oil.

BTC exported 262.8 million barrels (35 million tons) of crude oil in 2015.

The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443 kilometer-long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer long section in Turkey.

The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

The pipeline's pumping capacity is 1.2 million barrels per day.
