SOCAR to expand filling stations’ network in Georgia

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR plans to increase the number of its filling stations in Georgia to 119 until the end of 2016.

Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR plans to increase the number of its filling stations in Georgia to 119 until the end of 2016, Mahir Mammadov, director general of SOCAR Energy Georgia, told Trend April 1.

Currently, 117 filling stations operate in Georgia under SOCAR's brand name, he noted.

Two new - one gas and one combined type filling stations are planned to be opened, added Mammadov.

The company will start to build a large filling complex on Tbilisi-Batumi highway in 2016, he said adding that the construction will be carried out on the highway's Zestaponi-Kutaisi part.

Mammadov noted that future plans for building SOCAR's new filling stations in Georgia will be based on demand.

SOCAR is the sole producer of oil products in Azerbaijan. It has filling stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland.

The company exported 225,350 tons of oil products in Jan.-Feb. 2016, as compared to 197,880 tons in the same period of 2015.

SOCAR exported 1.23 million tons of oil products in 2015, compared to 1.2 million tons in 2014.
