Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR confirmed the exit of the Belgian company Fluxys from negotiations to buy a share in the Greek gas network operator DESFA's 66 percent controlling stake, which is to be bought by SOCAR, said the SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev Apr. 2 in Baku.

He said the selection of the companies that want to buy SOCAR's stake in DESFA continues.

"Negotiations are currently underway. We are at the stage of selecting the company that will acquire a share in our DESFA stake," added Abdullayev.

"As for Fluxys, that company expressed interest, but later changed its plans," he noted, adding that meanwhile, Italy's Snam and Spain's Enagas are still interested in the deal.

SOCAR won a tender in December 2013 on the purchase of a 66-percent stake in DESFA for 400 million euros.
