Azerbaijani oil transportation via BTC increases

The volume of oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline stood at 7.31 million tons of oil in the first quarter of 2016, compared to 7.22 million tons in the same period in 2015.

The volume of oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline stood at 7.31 million tons of oil in the first quarter of 2016, compared to 7.22 million tons in the same period in 2015, said a message posted on Azerbaijani State Oil Company's website Apr.7.

BTC mainly transports Azeri Light oil produced at the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

Aside from the Azerbaijani oil, the pipeline transports oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

The BTC transported 1.2 million tons of Kazakh and Turkmen oil in January-March, 2016.

A total of 299.99 million tons of oil has been transported via the BTC since the start of its operation.

As much as 7.84 million tons of oil was sent to world markets from Turkey's Ceyhan port in January-March, 2016, compared to 6.86 million tons in the same period in 2015.

In total, 299.03 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was sent from Ceyhan port to world markets via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline since the start of its operation.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
