Italy became the main importer of the Azerbaijani oil in 2015, Kamran Mammadzadeh, deputy manager of Crude Oil and Oil Products Export Department, said Apr. 25.

He made the remarks at the "SOCAR International Caspian and Central Asia Downstream Conference - Trading, Logistics, Refining, Petrochemicals" dedicated to the 93rd anniversary of Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

About 25 percent of the total oil export volume was imported by Italy, he said.

The geography of Azerbaijani oil deliveries has become significantly wider over the recent years, according to him.

Mammadzadeh said that currently, Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR supplies oil from Azerbaijan to more than 30 countries of Europe, Asia and America.

The total volume of Azerbaijan's oil export was 35 million tons in 2015, he noted adding that Italy (25 percent), Germany (13 percent), Indonesia (10 percent), Israel (9 percent) and France (8 percent) became the largest importers.

SOCAR's share in the Azerbaijani oil's total export volume amounted to 22.1 million tons, said Mammadzadeh.

In 2015, Azerbaijan exported 1.9 million tons of oil products and 241,000 tons of petrochemicals, according to him.

Mammadzadeh noted that twenty five percent of SOCAR's oil products export accounted for Malta in 2015, 16 percent - for Turkey.

The volume of oil products supply to Georgia, which receives the 14 percent of the total volume, increased, he said adding that Gibraltar (10 percent) and Italy (9 percent) are also in top-5 of importers.

The Netherlands (with 22 percent), China (19 percent), Turkey and Russia (16 and 15 percent respectively) became the main importers of petrochemicals.
