A combined plant for sulfur production will be constructed at Kazakhstan's Atyrau refinery by late 2016, the press service of Atyrau refinery said May 17.
Atyrau refinery is one of the three largest refineries in Kazakhstan.
The plant's capacity will be 58 tons of solid sulfur per day. KazStroyService company and 13 Kazakh subcontractors are engaged in the plant's construction.
To date, 100 percent of the pilework, 77 percent of the work on concrete pouring and 15 percent of the work on installation of metal structures have been completed.
Sulfur is used for the production of sulfuric acid, the vulcanization of rubber, as a fungicide in agriculture and for producing road-building materials, paints and fertilizers.
