Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry grows by 4.2%

Azerbaijan's non-oil sector grew by 4.2 percent, while its oil sector decreased by 1.7 percent in January-April 2016, as compared to the same period in 2015, said the report of the country's State Statistical Committee.

The total volume of industrial production (the volume of manufactured products and rendered industrial services) in Azerbaijan stood at 9.4 billion manats in January-April 2016, or 1.1 percent less than in the same period in 2015.

Official exchange rate on May 24 is 1.4929 AZN/USD.

During the reporting period, the volume of production in mining industry stood at 6 billion manats, which accounts for 63.9 percent of the total volume of industrial production, or 1.3 percent less than in January-April 2015.

Azerbaijan produced 13.98 million tons of oil and 9.94 billion cubic meters of gas in January-April 2016.

The volume of oil production in the country has dropped by 1.8 percent as compared to January-April 2015, while the gas output has increased by 0.3 percent.

This is while 2.7 billion manats worth products were manufactured in the processing industry in January-April 2016 (28.6 percent of the total volume of industrial production), or 2.6 percent more than in the same period in 2015.

The highest growth in this sector was recorded in textile industry - 3.5 times, repair and installation of machinery and equipment - 2.1 times and manufacturing of computers, electronic and optical products - 2.7 times.

During the reporting period, the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam decreased by 6.2 percent as compared to the same period in 2015, while the water supply, treatment and recycling of waste dropped by 1.6 percent.
