Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR managed to save around $60 million in the process of construction of a new latest generation large floating drilling rig, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters June 2.
There are no delays in the rig's construction schedule, he said, adding that 95 percent of the work has been completed and the rig will be ready in 2017.
The project's cost exceeds $1 billion. The rig's construction will be completed before March 2017.
The drilling rig can be rented to the French company Total for drilling works at Azerbaijan's Absheron gas and condensate field, or to BP for using it in the third stage of development of the Shah Deniz field.
