The world oil demand has increased by 1.7 percent and reached 92.98 million barrels per day in 2015, according to the OPEC Annual Statistical Bulletin.

The oil demand in the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has increased by 1 percent and stood at 46.18 million barrels per day.

This is while the world gas demand has increased by 1.9 percent and reached 3.49 trillion cubic meters, according to OPEC. The gas demand in OECD countries stood at 1.63 trillion cubic meters in 2015, or 1.6 percent more than in 2014.

OPEC said the US remains the largest oil consumer in the world. The oil demand in the US stood at 19.4 million barrels per day in 2015, or 2.5 percent less than in 2014.

The US also remained the largest gas consumer in the world in 2015. The country’s demand for gas stood at 777.95 billion cubic meters in 2015, or 2.9 percent more than in 2014.

The average price for Brent oil stood at $53.6 per barrel in 2015, as compared to $99.5 per barrel in 2014.
