Kazakhstan increased maximum allowed domestic wholesale prices for liquefied gas from 11,034 tenge per ton to 23,106 tenge per ton (343.88 tenge = $1), Kazakh energy ministry reported on July 26.

The ministry noted that some regions of the country have experienced liquefied gas deficit because suppliers preferred to sell this fuel to the neighboring countries where wholesale prices are much higher, for example 59,019 tenge per ton in Russia and 104,864 tenge per ton Tajikistan.

Furthermore, liquefied natural gas producing plants suffered losses with previous wholesale prices, the ministry said.

The Energy ministry does not expects that increase in the wholesale price lead to a significant increase in retail prices.
