Kazakhstan, Shell to cooperate in oil, gas processing

Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry, national oil and gas company KazMunaiGas, gas transporting company KazTransGas, and Shell Kazakhstan company signed the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on Sep. 6, Kazakh ministry reported.

The memorandum envisages cooperating in the sphere of gas processing and oil chemistry, improving recovery of oil field in Kazakhstan, sharing experience and new technologies and researches in renewable energy sphere.
Royal Dutch Shell’s Upstream International Director Andrew Brown noted that Shell intends to deepen its strategic cooperation with KazMunaiGas and Kazakhstan.

“We are looking to provide our support and technical excellence in assessing opportunities in gas processing, oil recovery and renewables,” he said.

Currently Shell has interests in 4 projects in Kazakhstan: the North Caspian Production Sharing Agreement (16.81 percent), “Pearls” Production Sharing Agreement (55 percent), Karachaganak Final Production Sharing Agreement (through BG Group’s share - 29.25 percent), and Caspian Pipeline Consortium (7.4 percent).
