US increases import of Azerbaijani oil

In January-July 2016, the US imported 2.665 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan, as compared to 2.053 million barrels in the same period of 2015, said a message posted on the US Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) website.

The US imported 4.82 million barrels of oil in 2015 compared to 8.4 million barrels in 2014.

Azerbaijani oil Azeri Light is mainly transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline to Turkey’s Ceyhan port.

Azeri Light is also exported from Georgia’s Supsa port, to which the oil is delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani oil is exported from Georgia’s Black Sea port of Batumi, to which the oil is delivered from Baku via railway, as well as from Russia’s Novorossiysk port – via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
