The prosecutor's office of Kazakhstan’s West Kazakhstan region fined Ural Oil and Gas company for 2.07 billion tenge ($6.23 million), the prosecutor's office reported.
The company was fined for unauthorized disposal of drilling waste.

Ural Oil and Gas obtains no facilities for the disposal of industrial wastes and had contracts on export of hazardous wastes outside the drilling area with transporting companies. This fact resulted in uncontrolled waste disposal in unauthorized places: near settlements, state reserves and on agricultural lands.

According to Kazakh law, a company or individual producing wastes is responsible for their safe management.
Ural Oil and Gas is engaged in exploration of hydrocarbons at Fedorovsky block in Western Kazakhstan.
