New natural gas reserves have been found at the Halkabat site in the eastern Turkmenistan, Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan said in a report.
Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology State Corporation drilled an exploration well after carrying out 2D seismic investigations.
“As a result, a commercial inflow of gas was obtained from the Middle Jurassic strata at a depth of 3,070-3,064 meters. The Halkabat field has great prospects,” reads the report.
According to Gaffney, Cline & Associates, which audits Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh field and the adjacent Yashlar field, these two sites have an estimated total reserve of 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas. With the newly discovered Garakel field, the block's reserves rise to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.
