Turkey’s Ronesans, Turkmenistan mull gasoline refinery

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with head of the Turkish Ronesans Holding, Erman Ilicak, where Ilicak informed the president about the construction of the refinery that will produce gasoline from natural gas in the Ahal province.

The Turkish businessman noted the high interest of his company to further strengthen the close cooperation with Turkmenistan, the Turkmen government said in a message Nov. 16.

Earlier it was reported that the Turkish holding is constructing the refinery together with Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd in Ovadan-Depe town in Ahal, 30 kilometers away from Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

The refinery, to be equipped with technology from Denmark’s Haldor Topsoe, will annually process 1.785 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce 600,000 tons of RON-92 gasoline.

The total project cost is $1.7 billion. The project is implemented through investments of the Japanese side and Turkmengas State Concern.
