Construction of a large refinery that will produce gasoline from natural gas continues at a fast pace in Ovadan-Depe town in Ahal province of Turkmenistan, the online newspaper of Turkmenistan's oil and gas complex reported.
The construction of the refinery started in 2015. The project’s customer is the country’s Turkmengas State Concern.
The project’s contractors are Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and the Turkish Ronesans Holding.
Total cost of the project is $1.7 billion and the project is being implemented through the investments of the Japanese side and the funds from Turkmengas State Concern.
The refinery will annually process 1.785 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce 600,000 tons of RON-92 gasoline.
The technological process of turning gas into liquid fuels envisages the construction of a chain of technological installations for advanced cleaning of natural gas, the production of synthesis gas, methanol, and then installations for the production and ennoblement of gasoline, according to the message.
The plant, which is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2018, will provide about 700 jobs.
Pipeline installation, welding work and construction of engineering bridges, cooling towers, three storage tanks for finished gasoline, as well as methanol and liquefied gas storage tanks are underway, according to the information.
The territory of the plant covers 57 hectares. It houses an industrial zone, six support zones, where industrial buildings, air separation unit, water and waste water treatment units, containers for storage of the product, process condensate purification units, water tanks are located.
