The volume of crude oil production in the US stood at 8.580 million barrels per day (b/d) in September 2016, or 1.9 percent less than in August (8,747 million b/d), the country’s Energy Information Administration said in its Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production report.

The US produced 9.423 million barrels of crude oil in September 2015, according to the report.

This is while the volume of gas production in the country has decreased by 0.4 percent from 88.465 billion cubic feet in August 2016 to 88.137 billion cubic feet in September, said EIA.

The US produced 90.890 billion cubic feet of gas in 2015, according to the report.

EIA previously said in its This Week in Petroleum report that the US crude oil imports averaged over 7.5 million barrels during the week ending Nov.25, down by 30,000 barrels per day from the previous week.

Over the last four weeks, crude oil imports averaged over 7.7 million barrels per day, 5.3 percent above the same four-week period last year, said the report.
