Difficulties in implementation of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project can be addressed by working together, said Amos Hochstein, the special envoy and coordinator for international energy affairs at the US Department of State.

He made the remarks in a press conference in Baku Dec. 15 commenting on the recent protests in Italy's Puglia region that demanded re-routing of the pipeline.

Hochstein said the US, EU and Italian government can come together to resolve those problems.

TAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor which is one of the priority energy projects for the EU.

TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.

The 870-kilometer pipeline will be connected to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) on the Turkish-Greek border, run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Italy's south.
