Light oil and gas were discovered in Ansagan field in Kazakhstan’s Atyrau region, the Energy Ministry said in a message Jan. 23.
The deposits are located in the Devonian sediments of the field – deeper than in the Tengiz field located nearby.
A large-scale exploration work is planned for confirming the predicted hydrocarbon resources.
Moreover it is planned to conduct an appraisal work at the Ansagan field and expand exploration over the entire contract area with exploration drillings at the prospective Maksat and Deep Prorva areas.
A contract on subsoil use with the right to conduct exploration of hydrocarbons in Atyrau and Mangistau was signed by Almex Plus in 2014.
