Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.22

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Russia and Bahrain are considering the possibility of supplying gas to Bahrain, said the message posted on the website of Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The remarks were made following the first Russia-Bahrain intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

The concrete agreements and practical cooperation in this sphere will make it possible to hold a substantive dialogue between Russia and Bahrain on creating a regional gas hub as well, said the message.

The ministry said that currently, Bahrain is planning to construct the first LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) receiving terminal which is expected to be commissioned in 2019.

“We consider this as a very promising sphere. With the commissioning of this terminal in 2019, we hope to increase the volume of LNG production in Russia by that time, which will make it possible to export part of these volumes in particular to Bahrain,” said Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
