Ecological modernization has been conducted at the Turkmenbashi oil refinery, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

An industrial system of treatment facilities and recycled water supply has been put into operation. The project has been implemented by the British company Petro Gas LLP.

The capacity of treatment facilities in general will be more than 30,000 cubic meters per day and out of this volume, about 25,000 cubic meters of clean water will be reused, which is equivalent to the commissioning of a big seawater desalination plant, according to the report.

The project envisages the introduction of a separate scheme for the collection, separation and disposal of wastewater, depending on their category – industrial and household.

Moreover, the flare facilities, which ensure the reduction of emissions in the air, were reconstructed at the enterprise.

Reservoirs for storing oil and oil products are equipped with modern systems preventing the hydrocarbon vapors into the atmosphere.

It was previously reported that in recent years, a number of banks of Europe and Asia have invested funds in the reconstruction work at this biggest refinery of Turkmenistan. The contract work was conducted by companies of Japan, Turkey, France, Germany, Israel, Iran and others.
