Oil&Gas Materials 21 June 2005 12:04 (UTC +04:00)

Azerneftyagh refinery, a structural division of the State oil company of Azerbaijan, is about to announce next month a tender on major overhaul of bitumen-producing Bituroks 401 plant and ELOU-AVT-6 305 refining installation.

Bituroks 401 is capable of producing 250,000 tons per year of bitumen (200,000 tons of asphalt bitumen and 50,000 tons of construction bitumen). ELOU-AVT-6 305 is running at an annual refining capacity of 6 million tons of petroleum products.

A refinery-placed source told Trend that work is underway to draw up a package of tender terms and determine the list of required spare parts.

Austrian company Perner is consulting the refinery management on issues concerning the approval of the required equipment [to carry out the scope of tender work]. The consultant has completed a monitoring of the existing facilities to undergo big repair. It is expected that next week the Austrians will present their proposals on the overhaul of bitumen-producing and refining facilities.

“Perner is planning to participate in the tender on major repair of the bitumen-producing Bituroks 401 plant. The management of the [Azerneftyagh] refinery have also offered the company to take part in the overhaul of the ELOU-AVT-6 305 refining installation too,” the sources added.

The expected work will likely take one to one and half months to complete. “But we are experiencing a growing demand for bitumen. Therefore, we are planning to shorten the term of the upcoming repairs,” the source explained.
