ON BTC PIPELINE ROUTE METEOSTATIONS TO BE BUILT

On the area of the Baku deepwater jackets plant after Heydar Aliyev (former “Shelfprojectstroy”) and in the Evlakh region on the route of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline automated meteorological stations (AMS) will be built, Trend has been told at the department of hydro-meteorological forecasts under the Ministry of Ecology and the
Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.

The AMS construction is carried out for ensure the pipeline security and safety from the natural calamities. "Testing of facilities to be installed at the stations is currently underway”, the department noted.

Implementation of these events has been carried out within the framework of the program “Development of hydro-meteorology of Azerbaijan for 2004-2010", approved by the country’s President in February.

The new equipment will allow to record automatically any changes of the weather conditions and take appropriate measures. The AMS on the Pirallahi island has been installed and commissioned within the program. The cost of one station, produced by the Finnish Vaisala company is $8 thousand.
