SOCAR TO SELL 215,000 TONS OF OIL IN TWO TENDERS

The date of shipment of the next consignment of Azerbaijani profit oil Azeri Light by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) from the Georgina port of Supsa has been determined. The shipment of 1 million barrels of Azeri Light oil (135,000 tons) from Supsa is scheduled for 28-29 September.

According to official of the SOCAR, the tender on the purchase of this consignment was announced early September. The previous consignment with the similar amount was sold to German company Select Energy GMBH.

In 2005 SOCAR intends to ship from Supsa seven tankers with the amount of 945,000 tons of oil, the same in 2004. This year Azeri Light was sold to Glencore, Arcadia, Czech Unipetrol, Total and R-Trading.

The SOCAR said that on 29-30 September it is planned to ship 80,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil from the Novorossiyk port. In January to July the SOCAR shipped from Novorossiysk 990,500 tons of Ural, or 500,500 tons down as compared to 2004. Oil transportation tariffs in the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline is $15.67 per 1 ton.
