The Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry intends to file an appeal on liquidation of the sentence of the Supreme Court, which made verdict in favor of the Salyan Oil Company operating company, the Ministry told Trend.
“We have not received official sentence of the court. We will develop documents on the appeal after the receiving of the documents. We intend to provide environmental protection and address to the Constitution in case of need,” the Ministry said.
The Ecology Ministry demands repayment of fine in the amount of 758,271 manats from the Salyan Oil for damage to the environment as a result of oil spillage.
The court hearings between the sides started in October 2003.
The SOL is engaged in development of the Kursangi-Karabagli onshore fields.
