$39,1 MILLION SPENT IN FRAMEWORK OF RESTORING NAR GAS SUPPLY PROJECT

180 billion AZM ($39,1 million) spent to date within the project of restoring the Nachchevan Autonomous Republic (NAR) gas supply project, deputy chairman of the Joint Stock Company (JSC) Azerigaz Nazim Samedzade told Trend.

According to him, the total amount of 260 billion AZM ($56,5 million) is planned to spend for the project implementation. “The state budget allocated 83 billion AZM instead of the projected 114 billion AZM. The rest part of funds goes on the account of JSC own means.

Samedzade reported the department carries out works to start deliveries in October of the Iranian gas to NAR. "Construction of the main gas pipeline Nackhchevan -Djulfa with the length of 4 km under the pressure of 55 atmospheres completed.

The lines are ready for operation in centers of 6 districts of NAR out of 7. For the first time in Azerbaijan construction of gas lines with the polyethylene pipes is used in NAR. It is performed by the Russia’s “Stroitel” company, he noted.

According to Samedzade, over 8,000 subscribers are ready for the moment for receiving gas. The department starts gas supplying to private houses. 14,000-15,000 subscribers are planned to be supplied with gas till the year-end. Implementation of the second stage of works is envisioned and by the end of 2007 NAR will be completely provided with gas.

As for the gas pipeline under the Araz river and connection of gas lines of Iran and NAR, Samedzade noted, the works launched here. 100 meters of pipes from the total of 350 meters are welded. "There are no problems with the Azerbaijani side and the works will be completed till mid-September.

However, Iran has not submitted documents on consent for construction of 130-meter long gas line on its territory. Under the contract these works are to be performed by Azerigaz, he said.
