SOCAR MANAGEMENT DISMISSED EMPLOYEES RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCIDENT ON WELL

By instructions of the SOCAR management due to the accident in July on the production oil well N 16 on the stationary sea platform (SSP) N 14, installed on the shallow sector of the Gyuneshli oil field, some of the employees of the 28 May Oil and Gas Production Unit (OGPU), part of the PU Azneft of SOCAR are dismissed, the information sources told Trend.

According to the sources, at the result of the investigation it was found out that the cause of the accident was the negligence of the employees. The dismissed persons are, in particular, the chief geologist, the chief mechanic and the head of the central engineering technical department.

Repair works are currently underway on the well, SOCAR told Trend. The well N16 with the debit of 30 tons of oil per day was halted for the overhaul prior to the accident. The event took place during the repair works on 24 July.

"At the result of the breakdown of a preventor the fire broke out in the well, which was extinguished for the short period. Nobody was injured at the result of the accident”, SOCAR told Trend.
