(ITAR-TASS) вЂ" “Kazakhstan counts on soon signing of an intergovernmental agreement with Azerbaijan on the joining to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline,” Vladimir Shkolnik, the Kazakh Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, to the investment conference on "Industrial-innovation strategy of Kazakhstan: new opportunities for business."

"We will sign such agreement this year," he told ITAR-TASS on Friday.

According to Shkolnik, Kazakhstan counts on annual deliver of 20 million tons of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline to 20 million tons of oil. Simultaneously the opportunities of the Caspian Pipeline Company (CPC), which ensures the Kazakh oil transportation via the Tengiz field via the Russian territory, is increased.

"We fundamentally resolved the question linked with the signing with all companies of a memorandum envisaging the expansion of the Atirau-Novorossiysk pipeline, i.e. CPC, increasing the oil pumping to 67 million tons a year," the Minister noted.
