AZERIGAZ PLANS TO START DELIVERIES OF AZERBAIJAN’S GAS TO IRAN PRIOR TO 25 SEPTEMBER

The Azerigaz Closed Joint Stock Company (CJSC) plans to start deliveries of the Azerbaijan’s gas to Iran prior to 25 September in the framework of the project for reinstatement of gas supply to the Nakhchevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), deputy chairman of Azerigaz JSC Nazim Samedzade told Trend on 15 September.

According to him, testing of the gas and compressor station (GCS) close to Astara at the Azerbaijani-Iranian border is currently underway. "Active works are performed here to complete them in the scheduled time. However, weather conditions are not ruled out to affect the works”, he noted.

Opening of GCS, in which President of Azerbaiajn Ilham Aliyev took part, was held on 8 September 2005. According to the contract with Iran Azerbaijan is to supply gas under the pressure of 55 atmospheres. Construction of GCS was carried out by Sumy Machine-building Enterprise (Ukraine) for 80 billion AZM (about $17,5 million).
