AZERIGAZ CJSC RECEIVED OFFICIAL CONSENT FROM IRAN FOR CONSTRUCTION OF UNDERWATER GAS PIPELINE

Azerigaz CJSC received an official consent from the Iranian side for construction of the 130-meter underwater gas pipeline on the Araz river on the Azerbaijani вЂ"Iranian border in the framework of the project for reinstatement of the gas supply to the Nakhchevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), deputy chairman of Azerigaz CJSC Nazim Samedzade told Trend. Under the contract these works will be executed by Azerigaz.

According to him, there are no problems in constructing the gas pipeline within Azerbaijan and the works are practically accomplished. The total length of the underwater gas pipeline is 350 meters.

About 40 million USD are spent for the project by now. Totally around 60 million USD are planned for the project implementation. The enterprise projects to start delivering of the Iranian gas to NAR in October.

From 14,000 to 15,000 customers are planned to be supplied gas by the project and NAR will be completely provided with gas by late 2007.
