TAX MINISTRY CONTINUES WORK ON CASE OF BARMEK AZERBAYCAN

“Employees of Barmek Azerbaycan company are not a party to a criminal case and can be released shortly,” Husseyn Arabul, the President of Barmek Azerbaycan, told Trend on Thursday. He was commenting on the detention of 2 employees of the company by the Taxes Ministry.

Mahir Novruzov, the head of the Technical Operations Division of Barmek Azerbaycan and the head of the Surakhani Energy Network, Etimat Nasibov. Were detained on 14 September by the employees of the Taxes Ministry of Azerbaijan on suspects of misappropriation of state property in the amount of 400m manats ($87,200 at average exchange rate of NBA fixed on 22 September 2005).

"We implement our activities in accordance with the law and a contract signed with the Azerbaijani government. S, we have nothing to be keep off,” Arabul underlined.

As to possible impact of the exiting difficulties between Barmek Azerbaycan and Taxes Ministry on the further activities of the company Arabul said that is actually increased the efficiency of the company’s work. "At present the key objective is to provide the subscribers with uninterrupted energy supply in the forthcoming winter season," the President of Barmek Azerbaycan stressed.

Meanwhile, Fariz Samadov, the spokesman for the Taxes Ministry, told Trend that at the moment they were clarifying whether Arabul committed a grave crime. On 20 Seoteber Arabul was invited to gibe a testimony as a witness on the case linked with the company’s evasion from payment of 16,573,1m amants in taxes.

“However, if there evolves a necessity Arabul can be called as a suspected, or detained. He can be arrested as every ordinary person accused in committing crime. At present 2 employees of the company have been arrested вЂ" the head of the Technical Operations, Mahir Novruzov, and the head of the Surakhani Energy Network, Etimat Nasibov. No sanction on other employees has been issued,” Samadov noted.

According to Samadov, the Taxes Ministry does not pursue a goal to arrest maximal number of employees of the company. "Our key task is to execute the laws adopted by the parliament, which comprised of MPs, who are elected by the people and respectively demonstrate their will," Samadov underlined.
