BP RESUMED OPERATION OF BAKU-SUPSA OIL PIPELINE

The oil spill of some 450 barrels was found out on 3 October 2005 at 14:00 p.m. in Georgia on the oil pipeline Baku-Supsa (the western route). The spill occurred in Gardaban region of Georgia, 40 km north-east of Tbilisi, the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) told Trend .

В"The operations on the Baku-Supsa pipeline were immediately suspended and we activated all our resources for liquidation of the spill. By 18:00 p.m. of the same day the spill was removed and the entire oil was injected back into the pipeline. The spill spot was sealed “, AIOC said.

AIOC also noted the oil spill did not harm people and water. “On 4 October at 10:00 a.m. the operations on the pipeline were resumed”, AIOC said. AIOC informed also the relevant bodies of Georgia and the investigation began.

В"By the preliminary data the oil spill happened at the result of the illegal in-cut into the Baku-Supsa pipeline”, AIOC concluded.
