RUSSIA-AZERBAIJAN-IRAN ENERGY CORRIDOR TO BE COMMISSIONED IN 2009

The Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran energy corridor will be put into exploitation in 2009, Trend reports referring to Etibar Pirverdiyev, the President of the Azerenergy JSC.

The sides are currently working on synchronization of energy systems of the three countries. According to Pirverdiyev, it requires detailed determination of sides’ responsibility, conditions on implementation of technical measures, principles of devices exploitation, particularly, construction of the second 330-KV Darband-Yashma electricity transmission line.

The work on construction of 5 substations and electricity transmission line in the south region of Azerbaijan started in October. The project envisages construction of the high-voltage lines of the Imishli-Alibayramli SDPS, Salyan-Masalli, Masalli-Astara, new 220-KV substation Salyan, as well as overhaul and partial reconstruction of the system substations Imishli, Masalli, distribution device at the Alibayramli SDPS.

The contract on $75m credit was signed in Baku on 22 April 2005. The agreement on allocating of credit by the Iranian Export Bank was concluded in Tehran in August 2004. Energy cross-flow is supposed to increase up to 700 MW.
