Azerenerji Joint-Stock Company (JSC) will see its 70th anniversary in 2005, which will be marked on 20 October, Trend reports.
On that day 2004 for the first time professional holiday of Azerbaijani energy specialists was marked in accordance with the decree issued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The formation of a unified energy system, which was base for its further development, dated to 1930s. An organization was established in this period to regulate and manage the energy system in the country ranging from construction and generation to energy distribution. It was the progenitor of the current Azerenerji.
At present Azenerji, with its 100%-stock held by the state, is involved in the implementation of big project, including the construction of a gas-steam device with the capacity of 506 MW in Sumgayit, 400MW-gas-steam device at Shimal Power Station for the resolution of the problems with energy supply of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, module power stations with the total capacity of 450-460MW in the regions, and increase of the energy exchange with the neighboring countries Iran and Russia.
