The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to sell 10 tankers of Azeri Light oil, produced from Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field by the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), from the Georgian Supsa port.

The SOCAR annually sells profitable oil falling to its 10-% share within the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli project from the Supsa. The capacity of the tanker comprises 135,000 tons or 1m barrels.

The real number of the tankers may drop to 8 in 2006 depending on loading of the Baku-Supsa pipeline, the SOCAR told Trend.

“We will sell 9 tankers of oil from the Supsa in 2006. The last one, purchased by the German Select Energy, will be shipped from 18 to 19 November,” the Company stressed.

The shareholders of the AIOC plan to keep the oil transportation via the Baku-Supsa pipeline in the previous level.

The AIOC exported 5,756m tons of Azeri Light oil via the Baku-Supsa pipeline from January to October.

The SOCAR noted that they would sell 85,000 tons of Urals oil from the Novorossiysk port. The tender will be announced in late November in this regard. The Company is currently waiting for the results of the tender on sale of 80,000-ton tanker of Azeri Light from the Georgian Batumi port. The tanker will be shipped in early December.
