Shirvanoil Operating Company intends to drill 35 new development wells in 2006 within the project on rehabilitation, exploration and development of the Kurovdagh field, SOCAR told Trend. The Company announced a tender on selection of contractor in this regard.
SOCAR and the British Caspian Energy Group agreed on establishment of Shirvanoil Operating Company on base of former Shirvanoil Joint Venture from 1 January 2006.
The work related to equipment is under completion.
The Kurovdagh field was opened in 1929, while development of the field started in 1955. 36m tons oil has been produced from the field so far. Maximal production in the area was 1966 (40,000 barrels per day).
