It became available for banks served by the processing center Milli Kart to use Wi-Fi-POS-terminals, the center said.

Wi-Fi-POS-terminals (VeriFone Vx610) will provide an opportunity to improve the reliability, quality and speed of connection, reducing the cost for transmission of transactional information. Programmable secrecy module allows adapting terminal to any secure key management scheme.

According to the report, this kind of POS-terminals allows increasing the mobility of the terminal, which, in turn, will simplify payments by plastic cards in hotels, country clubs, restaurants and shops.

"This approach allows the bank to increase the circle of merchants involved in the acquiring service and to accelerate the growth rate of its sales and service network, including through coverage of those market segments, in which until recently cash payments dominated," the report says.

Milli Kart was established July 14, 2006 after 18 commercial banks redeemed a card payment processing center from the CBA. At present, the minimum participation of banks in the center's capital is one percent and the maximum figure is 10 percent. The Milli Kart system serves 12 banks.

The founders of the center are Atabank, Demirbank, AzerTurkbank, Bank of Baku, Azerbaijan Senayye Bankasi, Debutbank, Amrahbank, Xalq Bank, Credo Bank, Access Bank, ParaBank, RabitaBank, Bank Respublika, Bank Standard, Texnika Bank, Turan Bank, UniBank and Zamin Bank . Milli Kart was founded with a capital of 4 million manat.

The official exchange rate is 0.7961 manat to $1 on Feb.10
