Georgia and Ukraine have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of road and rail infrastructure, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili told journalists in Kiev.

The announcement was made after the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov.

Nikolaishvili noted that the meeting discussed the importance of constructing the railway Marabda-Kartsakhi, which is part of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

The parties agreed that Ukrainian companies will participate in tenders announced in Georgia, and Georgian companies will enter to the Ukrainian market.

"My colleague became interested in construction of the Marabda-Kartsakhi railway and turnover on it. There were many other issues that we discussed. So, we can assume that Georgia and Ukraine have many prospects for cooperation in this sphere," Nikolaishvili said.

The visit of Vice Premier and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine to Georgia was also planned during the meeting.
