Iran needs $9.8 billion to build coastline tourist freeway

Some 120 trillion rials (around $9.8 billion) is needed to build a freeway, which will extend along the Caspian Sea coast, and is aimed to attract tourists, Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development said.

Ahmad Sadeqi told the Fars News Agency that the freeway, named Darya, will be built as a joint venture with a Danish consortium.

The freeway's length will be over 700 kilometers. It will start from the city of Astara in Gilan province and will end in Golestan province, he underscored.

The project will flourish economic activities in the region and will attract many tourists, he said.
