The introduction of electronic patent courts in Azerbaijan may require changes to the Civil Code and other legislative acts.

Such a statement was made by Federal Patent Court of Germany Judge Wolfgang Stoppel during a speech at the seminar on Legal and technical aspects of electronic patent court in Baku.

The seminar discussed the possibility of introducing electronic patent courts in Azerbaijan, showcased the achievements of German experts in the field. The seminar was organized by the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).

According to Miryagub Seyidov, the director of the Examination of Industrial Property Center (AzPatent) Committee, the concept of electronic patent courts is new to Azerbaijan and it will be useful to study the best experience of Germany in this field.

"The steps in this field will bring positive results for the formation of " e-government " in Azerbaijan and will be beneficial to all parties," Seyidov said.

According to the IRZ coordinator in Azerbaijan Rashad Huseynli, the use of electronic documents in the judicial system and the use of technology will improve performance in this field.
