Fourth Iran-Turkey Border Trade Conference kicks off in Turkey

The 4th Iran-Turkey Provincial Border Governors and Economic Officials Conference kicked off on Saturday in Turkey's Agri city, IRNA reported.

According to IRNA correspondent, the Border Trade Conference is headed by Iranian Vice-President Ali Saeedlu and Turkish Planning Minister Jodat Yilmaz.

Governors general of the border provinces from the two countries were present in the conference.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Ambassador Bahman Hosseinpour and representatives of the two countries' state and private sectors, border city governors and mayors are among the participants at the important two-day economic conference in Agri, situated at a 150 kilometer distance from Iran-Turkey border.

Four workshops for expert groups are to be held on issues such as investment and border trade, customs, industry and tourism, cultural an sports cooperation in the first day of the conference.

The first such conference was held in Tehran in December 2009, the second one in January 11th, 2010 in the Turkish city of Van, and the last one in October, 2010 in Orumiyeh, Iran's West Azarbaijan province.

In Agri conference, in addition to surveying ways to develop border trade and business, the two countries focus on boosting tourism, border transport and academic cooperation of the neighboring provinces from Iran and Turkey.

The two countries officials are studying practical steps to construct a joint Iran-Turkey border market.

On the sidelines of the Conference, the businessmen, craftsmen and representatives of the two countries' state and private sectors hold separate workshops.
