Spending on the financing of political parties from the Azerbaijani state budget for 2013 increased by 500,000 manat - up to 2.5 million manat, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said on Friday at the Azerbaijani Parliament during discussion of the draft budget for 2013 and subsequent three years.
"Considering the proposals that a number of MPs voiced during the discussion of the draft budget, it was decided to increase government spending on the financing of political parties up to 2.5 million manat," he said.
In May 2012, the Azerbaijani Parliament has made amendments to the law 'On political parties', according to which political parties will be financed from the state budget.
The official exchange rate is 0.7847 manat to $1 on Nov.30.
