Azerbaijani company Anglo-Asian Mining plc. expects to receive the first gold from a deposit in Ordubad in 2014, Anglo-Asian Mining President Reza Vaziri told Trend on Thursday.

The deposit was discovered in the contract area over land extending to 462 square kilometres in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic early in the year. In May, the company informed the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry about the discovery. The deposit was found during exploration work carried out by the company in Piyazbashi and Agyurt in the city of Ordubad in 2010-2011.

Now the company plans further exploration in order to confirm the presence of a gold deposit with a small production capacity.

"We hope to present to the government a programme to develop the deposit and its production by late January 2013. In late 2013 to early 2014, we plan to complete the programme of exploration drilling. After that we can start production," Vaziri said.

The company has been producing gold from the Gedabey deposit since 2009 and plans to start production at the Gosha deposit in 2013.
