On February 3, the delegation will head to Moscow for talks to restore trade relations with Russia, the chairman of the National Wine Agency, Levan Davitashvili said at a briefing.

According to him, the technical problem associated with the issuance of visas has been resolved, and the Russian section of the Embassy of Switzerland in Georgia is ready to issue them.

During the visit, a meeting with the chief Russian sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko is expected.

According to Davitashvili, it will be a meeting of a technical nature.

"Rospotrebnadzor" is an agency that decides whether to let the product enter the Russian market, or not," he said.

The Georgian delegation will be composed of seven members, two of which are representatives of the National Wine Agency, two - from the Food Safety Agency, two - from the Wine Association and one is the representative of the Company for export of vegetables and fruits.

"The meetings will be held for two or three days. Several rounds of talks are to take place. It is not excluded that these meetings will be followed by Russia's visit to Georgia, what we welcome," Davitashvili said, noting that it will be the return to Russian market of such Georgian products that are subject to phytosanitary inspection.

With regard to the statements made by the Russian side concerning the fact of negotiations considering bottled wines only (not draught wine), Davitashvili said that it might take place at the first stage, as the Georgian side puts more emphasis on branded wines, although the risk of counterfeiting of the draught wine is lower.
