Iran's next year budget bill has allocated 15 trillion rials (about $1.2 billion) to family planning programs, the Fars News Agency reported.

The next Iranian calendar year starts on March 21.

According to statistics, Iran's population growth rate decreased to 1.29 percent in the past calendar year compared to 3 percent three decades ago.

Iran's population was 75,149,669 in the past year, and is currently about 77,218,443.

A typical Iranian family was comprised of 5.11 persons on the average in 1986, but it is comprised of 3.55 persons.

Thus, family planning programs have been directed toward encouraging people to have more children.
