Inceburun-Gorgan rail project to come on stream in 40 days

Inceburun-Gorgan rail project will come on stream by the end of the Iranian calendar month of Ordibehesht (May 21), Iran's deouty minister of Roads and Urban Development said on Friday.

The two countries' presidents will attend the inaugeration ceremony, the Fars News Agency quoted Ahmad Sadeqi as saying.

The 88-kilometers long rail project will connect the north western Iranian city of Gorgan with Incheboroon in Turkmenistan.

Its completion will create a rail corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to Central Asia.

Once the project comes on stream, iran will have access to Russia, Commenwealth of Independant States, and China.

The North-South project implementation will open access for European and Asian countries to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf.

A similar opportunity will appear for the transit of goods from countries in south and south-east Asia, the shores of the Indian Ocean to the countries of Northern and Eastern Europe through Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
