The Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers has approved a tourism development programme worth $77.8 million in the Tashkent region for 2013-2015, the Uzbektourism National Company told Trend on Friday

According to the source, the programme includes measures to develop the tourism infrastructure, diversify services and improve the infrastructure facilities for tourists, as well as training specialists in the industry.

According to the target parameters of tourism development in the capital, the volume of tourist services as of 2015 must increase 1.7 times compared to 2012 and exports of travel services by 1.5 times. The number of hotels is planned to double in the Tashkent region during this period from 31 to 58 and the number of rooms from 1300 to 2800 or 2.1 times.

The programme is planned to be financed by enterprises and organisations to 42.71 million with loans from local banks worth $26.38 million, foreign investments worth $5.65 million and state budget funds to $3.06 million.

Around $55.159 million will be invested in the construction and reconstruction of hotels and other tourism facilities in the region in 2013-2015, including $39.27 million for project initiators' funds, $10.23 million in loans from commercial banks and $5.65 million in foreign investments.

It is planned to transfer state budget funds worth $3.04 million for research, conservation, restoration and improvement of historical and cultural facilities in the Tashkent region.
